Reversing camera main dealer

Ask my main dealer skoda platinum bath. to fit a reversing camera to my 2019 Skoda superb. 

He emailed me today to say it's not a option for Skoda superb v3 hatchback.

It is an option (as I have a hatch with a reversing camera. Nov 2018 build). Not sure if it's normally retrofitted tho. Should be easy. It lives above the rear number-plate in the hatch handle and would require simple replacement of this part and wiring into the loom. Which is probably there already.

many thanks do yo have a part number for this camera and any pics of ware it plugs into at thefront end of the car 👍👍👍

sorry to be a pain but idid have it done on my mk2 superb. so i no it can bedone. justhe the dealer being a bit of a pain,

I am not sure if it helps but here's some pages from the workshop manual ... ( have no idea if cameras are dealer retrofitable, you can brute force anything with enough time and money of course )

tis is the reply from the skoda main dealer today witch makes more sence,

With regards to the reversing camera, I have double checked with parts and it cannot be fitted aftermarket through us. The only reversing camera they offer is for Superb’s built before build week 22 2018, your new Superb doesn’t qualify for this,

thanks for the link. i will check the car when i collect it on 24/6/2019. as i have been told by other members that the wiring loom is already in the car . fingers crossed 👍👍🤞

I'd be very surprised if the wiring is already there for the camera. each wiring loom is built to the PR codes of the car so if it doesn't have it, the wiring isn't normally there.

 

And the dealer is quite right, if Skoda don't supply an approved retrofit kit then technically they can't fit it.

yes makes sence .but when i agreed to purchase the car the dealer said they could and would fit one. a bit anoying😆😆

just found this one .can anyone confirm this is for a 2019 skoda superb hatchback. as it would be ideal. all i would need to do is get it coded if the wiring loom is there,

Not sure but I thought reversing camera required rear wiper to be fitted as does it use the washer? Also says requires high rear LED package according to May 2019 price spec options brochure. So possibly different loom(s). And possibly coding would require these options to be present. 

 

Dealer basically is saying MY19 onwards has changes that stop the earlier kit being retrofitted. Maybe Skoda are clamping down on people unlocking options for free using third party diagnostics.

 

Hope I'm wrong on all counts though....

The dealer cannot do it, because there is no official retrofit kit for Superb. They simply cannot do it without Skoda acceptance due to warranty/safety/other (pick the reason You want).

But technically it is possible and this is common retrofit over all VAG cars. To do it, You have to obtain camera and wiring loom - the best one is plug and play with the adapters to avoid cutting and soldering oem wires. To be found on aliexpress (cost c.a. 20$)

The problem is sometimes calibration of the lines - it is difficult to find the workshop beside Skoda to do it. Brand new cameras comes without calibration or even without firmware.

That's why I always buying used one, which is calibrated, but the risk is always with the quality - as usual with second hand pieces. 

 

Regarding rear wash wiper, if You don't have it, the spray nozzle will not work. But for this, You can replace existing washer pump to the one handling rear washer, replace stalks, route an washer pipeline to the camera and code it up.
