Car cleaning newbie

That looks to have come up nice @64VRS

re the swirls in the paint, it depends how much you want to get into detailing yourself. I suppose the long game would be to buy a polisher, pads, polish etc and then tackle it that way.

but a cheaper and less risky way would be to find a decent local valeter, get him to give the car the once over and maybe finish with a semi ceramic coating, then just maintain it from there. Adopting the cleaning regime you have started should avoid swirls reappearing, hence my comment that unless you want to get “into” detailing it’d probably be quicker and easier to pay someone to do the corrections.

cost wise maybe £200? Compared to cost of kit https://www.theultimatefinish.co.uk/car-care-kits/machine-polishing-kits.aspx?gclid=Cj0KCQjwjrvpBRC0ARIsAFrFuV_m0NdTVLKVWv5cg6LzWjxKtoslJTYBLuHnwS6D4MrQXPXJK3dzfHgaAhLUEALw_wcB

Personally I went down the professional correction then maintenance route..

As another complete novice, it looks good to me @64VRS !

My EZ cleaning set arrived yesterday from Amazon, can’t believe £75 for 10 cleaning products, a mit, some cloths and 2 buckets with grit guards! All looks great. Excited and slightly apprehensive for Friday now...

Good luck with swirls ,now there is a never ending task on a car used everyday ,they seem to appear by magic

There is a guy I used to work who, who's retired and now details cars. I'll have a word and see how much to de-swirl the car then maintain it myself. Don't think I'm ready for a polisher just yet..never say never though.

I followed the steps @MarkyG82 posted at the start of this post and it went smoothly. Surprised myself. Just got to give it a go @maffyou. Let me know what you think of the EZ products, £75 seems a good price.

My next task is chips like this..(Made worse by using car washers).

That’s the plan for Friday, although weather might scupper those plans if the forecast is right. Will update then.

Just to confirm that the weather did indeed prevent me from doing my car. I won’t get a chance until I come back from holiday now. Ah well.

Well the weather has continued to make it difficult but I finally managed to get most of it done yesterday. Only thing I didn’t get a chance to do (running out of time) was the EZ ceramic wax so I made do with the EZ Chrome spray wax instead. Think the car came out looking pretty decent (although it has only done 500 miles from new after delivery 2 weeks ago) and this afternoon’s downpour gave a chance to see the beading. I’m pretty pleased with my first attempt.
