Stressed and excited

Featured Replies

Going to view my potential new car today which is arriving from up country.

Been looking for so long I hope it's right, I've only seen photos of it.

I've been zooming in on pictures of the centre console trying to work out what toys it has.

I know it has adaptive cruise, xenon's, kessy, lane assist and Columbus auto lights and wipers as it's the Elegance.

It also has front and rear parking sensors and the ones in the side wheel arches so it may have park assist too. If so they have not listed that in the Skoda spec. Hoping it has more they haven't listed too.

Knowing my luck it's also in a state. It's an approved used so should I expect a fairly decent condition?

The only down side to me is the beige interior but I've managed to talk myself into liking it and as suggested on here

I'll order some  Scotchgard.

Plans if it's ok are:

Turn on anything I can In VCDS

Change the 4 spoke steering wheel for a 3 spoke if the airbag is the same.

Go mib2

Eventually change the interior if it bothers me

Lower 20mm

Find a nice splitter

Fit as many options as I can

Looks really nice, and highly specified. I do like the beige interior, it contrasts nicely with the red imho.

As you say there are some obvious features above and beyond the standard Elegance spec like the lights, big Columbus screen, the extra stalk for ACC etc. As well as the extra sensors it does look to have the buttons near the gear stick for Park Assist.

EDIT: I think the end buttons above the climate would indicate it has heated seats too, on my FL SE L they are blank as I don't have that.

Fingers crossed for you.

On the subject of steering wheels.  Do you know how to work out the air bag situation.  I'm on the verge of getting a new wheel but it comes without a bag or buttons and I've searched all over but struggling to find info on compatibility.  I'm 100% sure the wheel will fit.  What I'm not sure on is if the airbag will swap from a 4 spoke wheel and how to swap the buttons over.

I will try to remember to post up here if I get any info.

Yes it does have heated seats, I forgot about them.

On my old MK2 combi the wheels all shared airbags and was easy to swap over. My golf is also the same so I'm hopeful it should be a straight swap over.

@Nikonite That's what I was hoping.

Are you planning on selling the old wheel?  Is there much of a market?

I'm not sure I'll be selling it, I'll see how the swap goes  if it all works I will.

Went to see the car today and it's mine :)

The seats are actually really nice, they are more of a greyish beige than the yellowish beige that I expected.

The Columbus is cool, bigger screen than I expected, I thought it was going to be about the same as the rns510 in my golf.

A few problems with the car, both front tyres are like new on the outside edges but totally bald on the inside edges. I've asked them to check geometry which the salesman says they will but I'm guessing they won't.

Not sure if I should push this now or after sale?

In the boot under the raised floor at the sides there are some plastic bits at each side that look like bits are missing from it. Not sure what's meant to be there.

They are going to fix some scratches on the rear bumper and change both front tyres. The front wheels are kerbed, hopefully they will fix them but not sure.

All in it seems nice for the money and happy to report it does have park assist.

Sounds like you are on top of potential issues. What engine/milage is it? Worth asking about belts and water pumps?

@Nikonite just seen your other thread. I'd suggest the belt should have been done at 5 years old and if the water pump wasn't done at the same time I'd be surprised.

Cheers, I think I'm gonna push for it.

Its only a £10k car so expecting some small issues but can't stomach a big service bill right away.
