Hatch can do that too! But you can stack more in an estate

Not as much as I would like, due to that sloping rear window.

And don't get me started on that stupidly designed rear seat, which doesn’t fold flat and leaves a huge step in the load bed.

The question is how much have you saved on delivery and why couldnt you put them on the roof instead?

Delivery?  Wasn't available. And the price was good enough that I didn't search other outlets.

Sure they could have gone on the roof. Once I'd attached roof bars and then tied them on. Quicker just to fold seats and throw them in. Isn't that why we buy estates?  I've carried roof rack loads when I drove a hatchback. Not having to tie stuff on a rack was one of the reasons I got the estate.

+1

I would much rather use the interior space before chucking stuff on the roof racks.

Plus, I hate roof racks.

In my previous Octavia RS, with front & rear seats down, I carried, from Ikea, 2 single mattress (unrolled) and a day bed flat pack!
