Cheap obd dongle advice

Featured Replies

Good morning,

My 2016 Citigo Greentech is going in for a diagnostic check on Wednesday to try and find out why the stop/start is disabled, after having the battery trickle charged to see if the battery condition was having an effect. It wasn’t apparently.

Would one of these extremely cheap obd scanners be adequate for checking this sort of fault, if so, which one?

I have tried to research this myself, but would appreciate some advice from someone who has experience. The Carista dongle seems to offer definite compatibility’ with my car, but the app is expensive for my planned very limited use. I think it comes with one months free use, and then presumably I could use one of the free apps.

All I want is the means to have a clue with possible future faults, with no risk of damage to the car, if used correctly.

Thanks

Not able to assist with on board diagnostic. The stop/start seems to be a pet hate with some users, many lines of debate on here.

Presumably the car is out of manufacturers warranty, otherwise you could book it in to a Skoda dealer and sort it yourself ???

If the previous owner is amenable, could they enlighten you if , or how the stop/start has been over ridden??

There is a wiring attachment available on auction site, which fools the system as to permanent low battery voltage,so stop/start never cuts in -threads on here......

The car has a year’s warranty from a respected Honda garage ,they are checking it on Wednesday at the branch that has the required equipment, just hope they have an answer. Think I am just nervous about modern complexities. Thanks for answering
