Curbed wheel colour

Featured Replies

Sod it. Caught rear offside in ncp. Its not bad as curbs go I guess but no curb is a good curb :-(

Anyone found a decent colour match to touch up ?

Well wheel sorted ! New one ordered 🙂 I'll then get the old one refurbed at my leisure. Now fingers crossed that cut doesnt mean a new tyre !

I managed to hit a curb on holiday and figured I'd need a new tyre. The mechanic looked at it, saw the cut was superficial and said, "I can fix that."  He vulcanized it.

2,000 miles later, it's still on my car. Of course, you'll have to drive to Palermo to get it done!  😁

Bloody hell hope for mine then ! I’ll pop down to my friendly tyre place in the morning and ask them to have a poke at it !

Not sure that I would be happy driving on a tyre that had that much damage, even if they did repair it.

Come on @Nick_H. Think big.

Surely the question is: is the current tyre a P7. If so, it's irreparable.  Obviously. Without question. Always. And it would be irresponsible to replace only one - safety and all that.

I've got some jolly nice Goodyear Eagle Asymmetric 3s on mine as a result of a "gouge" to my front near side tyre. Though if SWMBO ever reads @freelunch's post above I suspect I will need medical assistance to find and relocate my gonads...

Haha unfortunately I replaced all the P7’s about 1k miles ago with Dunlop SP Sports so it’s only a baby and I want to save it if poss....

This thread should have a graphic content warning.

To  @BriskodaJeff's wife:

4 x Goodyear Eagle Asymmetric 3's = £600.00 (approx)

1 x Sicilian tyre repair = €25.00 + one hour wait

OK... Been to see the guys this morning. They umhed and ahhed a bit... Said it looks like there may be chords 'just' visible. When I mean just I mean you can  'only' just see a slight bit of light colour. Then said if it was going to bulge it would have done it by now and they would be tempted just to stick down with some rubber glue....

So a bit conflicted now ....

If in any doubt then replace.  I know the price of a new tyre is a bit tough to swallow but the price of a blow out at speed is more expensive and potentially not in monetary terms.

Agreed i've ordered a new tyre. I'll keep the damaged tyre and wheel for emergencies and have the new tyre fitted to the nice new wheel tomoz. I'm sure that tyre would be fine after I had glued it but it would never be out of my mind.
