Golf R exhaust

Featured Replies

Just a quick question.

Does anyone know if a mk7 Golf R rear exhaust section would fit a Mk3 VRS Tsi?

What are you trying to achieve, sound, performance or image ?

Remember the Golf R has two different exhaust configurations, hatchback and estate.

Hatchback is the valved, 4 true exit system. Estate is 2 exits and 2 fake tips.

Of the two, if either were to fit, I would expect it to be the estate version.

Just the look at the back, I'm not a fan of the standard "tips" and think the Golf R looks a bit smarter.

Theres just a back box section available for much cheapness and wondered if it would fit, as I might just buy it to see how it looks, and sell it on if its horrible looking.

Doesnt say whether its hatchback or estate though, mind you.

Looking at them, you'd need the estate version to accommodate the wheel well. The hatchback version wouldn't have a hope in hell of fitting on a vRS.

That's where your secondary problem will occur though, as I think the R Estate is similar to the vRS in that the tips aren't actually connected to the exhaust and mount to the bumper/diffuser.

That said though, in another sense, that means you don't necessarily need the entire backbox if the only bit you're interested in is the fake twin tips, as you might be able to just buy those and find a way to bodge them onto the bumper instead of the vRS tips, assuming the actual exhausts line up closely enough.

Sounds like a lot of work for just more fake tips 😂 was hoping I'd be able to get connected four tips, but I think my only option for that would be a custom exhaust?

Cheers for your advice btw 👍 saved me a lot of bother finding this out before I bought the part.

Yes, a lot of work for something that still isn't a real exhaust tip.

Custom exhaust would be better.

You've posted in this thread but for anyone else reading, there are some photos of quad exits on the Mk3.

Not to my taste personally but I've certainly seen worse exhaust setups on cars.

I'd forgotten I'd read that thread before, must be a six monthly thing me wanting to change it 😂

Aye four tips doesnt look as good as I thought. Might be worth getting custom tips exactly like the ones one the car, but actually connected. Again, a lot of money for something not that important, but the fake tips really annoy me.
