  • I bought mine via 'Buy A New Car Online' and was very happy with the price and the experience.

  • oh dear, that's a bit of a shock to say the least. I checked the company out and saw that they had been in business for around 15 years, with many good reviews over a long period of time. From what I

Should be fine, 245 Challenge DSG is still available for factory order as per Skoda brochure and bulletin JP refers to.

Yes,nothing much regarding vRS changes really, except no more manual .

🤞

The MY20 production has already started and these are still the MK3 Octy.

Good news still awaiting a delivery date I am guessing about 13/14 weeks from order going in.

VW finance are telling me I can factory order lease a 245 manual, hatch or estate? The dealer says no 245 manual or automatic on 2020 model. Only whats left of the 2019 production run ??????

Many thanks still no wiser as dealer, broker and persons on forum  seems to be many varied opinions or ideas of what’s happening. Guess I just wait for my order or wait for the call from sales person saying they have run into problems blah blah blah. Skoda have said I will get the MY20 variant with options I have chosen we will see 🤔

I can only repeat what I said before.

In the bulletin there is a list of engines discontinued for Octavia my 2020 production and this includes the 245 manual, but NOT the  245 dsg.

My car is a 245 dsg estate,is stated to be a my 2020 spec and it has been confirmed as a week 32 build (it was ordered April).

There is no date on the bulletin, things may have changed, who knows?

If you are getting information that conflicts with the above I would say speak to Skoda customer services.

That’s great thanks for the info, it just gets a bit confusing as I have never bought a brand new car before so never faced this problem.

You have inadvertently picked pretty much the most confusing time in a car's life cycle to order yours.

Given the situation I think the dealers are probably just as exasperated as the rest of us.

Thats the difference “ ordered in April!” That is supposed to be a 19 model year.  20’s are only orders from June clearly stated on the website.   There is very little difference between 19 and 20 anyway and wouldn’t surprise me if they are already built and just converted.

Just had VW finance on the phone and he again said he can currently factory order me a 245 manual at present in challenge or pauper spec.  And he said they have stated no more 245’s is imminent. The reason bring there is a massive shortage of 2.0 petrol engines due to the collapse of diesel sales and it seems Skoda are at the end of the pecking order.

Although my car was ordered in April,MY19 as you say,and in theory should have been delivered in July,I was informed that it was not going to be built until August as a MY20.

Because of this delay I was given a choice of about 30 pre ordered cars that were available nowish...but none had a colour/ spec that appealed to me,so,eventually I decided to wait.

All very confusing and a poor service from Skoda tbh...the only reason I am staying with it is the level of discount, but if there are any more excuses not sure what I'll do.

The model year is determined by when the car is built, not when it was ordered. It wouldn't make any difference if it was ordered in 2018 if they don't get around to building it until the end of 2019! Waiting times for a car to be built vary, and can't be guaranteed when a car is ordered. And they don't convert cars from one model year to another.

Very similar here. Ordered in April, MY20 built in June, delivery in July - hopefully.

What have you ordered?

It's 2.0 TSI 190 with DSG

The problem I am facing is because I ordered the 245 vRS I think don’t think that it is the Challenge is making much of a difference, who knows. I think it will be fine just a little uncertainty setting in. I am going to Skoda dealer tomorrow so will try and clarify things then, if possible.

I don't think its the dealers fault, they only want to sell you a car. Plus the servicing and any finance deal

I agree but hopefully they can at least chase up a potential delivery date

VW Group is struggling to make enough 2 litre petrol engines (they badly forecast sales levels when they tooled up the production lines, mistakenly assumed a high proportion would continue to request diesels)

It now seems that the petrol engines cars are effectively being rationed, and VW group have even abandoned the air filter with big logo, so on a MY20 car the engine won’t have a big Skoda name on top when you open the bonnet, this of course means much easier to swap engine production with VW, Audi etc.

With a factory summer break to also take, it remains to be seen how many MY20 cars get built to UK spec before the potential October delivery pause (blame Boris Johnson).  Although no one will admit it, if the engines are in short supply, last thing the factory needs is to be supplying a country that might change import regulations on 31 October, resulting in cars stuck on dockside instead of being delivered to other customers (around Europe).

The rationalised ranges (not just Octavia) should be seen as just the start of what might happen to UK sales and orders.
