How many miles have you done on the new pads?

i have not done any miles yet done the job and parked it up few hours a go

Then the handbrake won’t have adjusted itself yet. Don’t adjust the cable.

How many clicks have you got?

Cznt do photos, if you have the big box centre console then open the ashtray, grip the whole ashtray and air vent assembly and pull hard and it will come out, you will then see the adjuster and compensator arm (silver), the latter should be at 90° and not cranked over, if OK then take up slack with a very short 10mm open ended spanner.

You will scratch your hands, if they are like Popeyes then you will need to remove the outer surround which is four TX screws, TX25 IIRC, you can also pull out the ventilator duct.

@Teckle

about 10 clicks

thanks JR

Have you tried repeatedly applying and releasing the handbrake? That should wind in the adjusters in the calipers, it takes a few applications.

I take it you didn't undo the centre console adjustment nut.

Remove the rear ashtray in the centre console and look at the T bar that holds the 2 brake cables to the rear, apply handbrake and check it stays square. If it goes skew wiff, then check the rear brake on the side that went too far forward. Could be a duff cable, or cable not connected to the caliper lever correctly, or the caliper winding self adjuster stuck.

If it looks square, you can adjust it using a small 10mm open ended spanner.

Just went out and nipped mine up now that the calipers and pads are bedded in, less than 2 minutes, has to be up there with the heater fan replacement as being the easiest jobs ever on these cars.

That is assuming that the heater fan is as easy as the MK1 to remove.

I have never moved a heater fan but it dont seem to hard to do does it, my hand brake cables look quite new so a few turns should make it work better
