Skoda servicing - any good dealers ?

Recommended Posts

I maybe asking same old question  but

Has anyone found a good/honest/knowledgable main Skoda dealer  ?

We have 2 Superb 280s - and I must say I am so disappointed with their knowledge and customer care.

time to name and shame :- - DM Keith - terrible sales skills, only want to sell what they have even when told outright NO.  Servicing expensive, and not prepared to give info about what they do !  Severe lack of Servicing knowledge.

Bickerton Skoda - basic sales skills, cr4p handover presentation, lack of knowledge on servicing requirement - times, parts etc

I am more than happy to praise when its due - and can advise independant Saab garages that I would drive miles to - but Skodas are new to me and the car is great - the garages are woeful

Well..... Just to balance it up a bit have to say that i've used Bickerton Skoda since 2002. This is the 5th Skoda they have looked after and they have always gone above and beyond to help me out and also always done a fantastic job ! This is Service and Parts not had any experience of Sales.

I've had the opposite experience with the service team. I'll be going to an independent after my final service on my service plan.

I'm more stick than carrot :)

Never had a problem with parts department mind you and usually manage to get a few quid knocked off if I ask nicely.

I found their sister site (Rainworths in Mansfield) much better and used them when I had my Mk II between 2012 and 2016. Bit of a trek down there though and I'd have to sit and wait for the service.  If they extend the Sheffield Supertram to Mansfield I might reconsider them ;)

I use silbury Skoda in the north east  and they have always been spot on for my vrs and now the superb. 90% of the techs own Skodas generally modified ones too And the other 10% has a stage. 2 Audi S3 And the service dept are superb. Good deals for regular custom and always efficient. Wouldn’t change

Nah, Bickertons for the final service under my plan (let's see if they tell me that I'll need a DSG oil change) then onto Auto Tecnic at Meadowhall. Used to take my Octavia there post-warranty and found them very professional.

Innocent question at least a year before I need to make any decisions. Does anyone have any real-world experience of the trade-in value of a FSSH car versus one looked after by a  good independent during the post-warranty period? My dealer is utterly useless and I would love to bin them. But as a private owner I need a decent trade-in against the new one.

It made no difference at all to my previous car.  The dealers I approached just asked about 'service history'.  None of them asked to see the book and it had work covering the first 60K miles so plenty of stamps, all from an indy specialist.  The biggest value killer on that particular car was dieselgate; I made p/x enquiries before/during/after and it literally wiped thousands off what I was offered, even by the supplying dealer.  Funny how the diesel cars they were trying to sell to me didn't de-value at the same rate 😡

This was on a SEAT though, not a Skoda....but come to think of it I've always stuck with a good indy specialist for servicing on all our VW group cars and I can't recall anyone ever commenting on it or transparently knocking value from the car.  My 280 is the first car I've had serviced at a dealer since my Octavia vRS in 2007/8 (and that's only because I got the service plan)

If I was looking at a used car I'd  be more pleased to see a service book stamped by a reputable/respected indy specialist vs a franchised dealer anyway.

Service book... Stamped?

Can you still get these?

Ha, I did wonder.

So far, since moving north, I’ve used Rainworth once, but wasn’t that impressed. I recently went to Chesterfield Skoda for an infotainment warranty issue on my latest Superb. They said they need Skoda technical to advise them how to fix it. I’m still waiting for something to happen nearly four weeks later, so the jury is still out.

Figure of speech

Some manufacturers still use a physical service book and it's only in the last 4-5 years that Skoda have stopped.

Not very impressed with my local dealer on the servicing front. Always top price, wild charges for a loan car and trying to push add-ons like aircon servicing.

My car will be 3 years old in September so that will be the end of the warranty and my visits to this dealer I think. I’ve currently got an annoying intermittent fault with my wipers which I’d like to get sorted under warranty, but they are refusing to do anything until they see the fault for themselves.

For dealer feedback, check the reviews section on here.

To answer the OP question, if I were in Huddersfield I might venture to RRG Rochdale. From Manchester way, I'd drive past at least 3 other dealers and that wasn't by accident ;)

Hi - I eventualy used DM Keith in Wakefield - after luckily getting to speak to who is probably the most helpful and competent person within the Skoda Network  (a young man called 'Coby' in Service Dept)

I was just about to book into my local garage and ask them to use Skoda parts - but as many do - I prefer whilst under warranty to maintain Skoda service History.

Interesting that most of us dont have much good to say about the dealers.
