Jaguar EV investment ahead of Brexit or because of Brexit

Featured Replies

Yes!

I hope the new XJ is as good as mine. Good to look at, good to drive and different from all the same boxy other marques.

Not sure it is actual big news as it is inevitable to go EV and part of the Jaguar "charm" is that it is British.  Tariffs of 10% to Europe would be very harmful, maybe EVS could be reduced or exempt as the EU also want EVs such as the LEAFs made in Sunderland, maybe, and the UK wants Zoes from, France so a deal could be done eventually one hope for the environment sake etc..

In the 2018/19 fiscal year, Europe became Jaguar’s biggest sales market. European consumers (outside the United Kingdom) pushed ahead of the UK and North America, with 49,474 units sold that year. This was the largest amount out of all years recorded here. More cars were sold in the UK than in any other country, at 38,515 units. This was unsurprising as the UK was the company’s home market. Although owned since 2008 by Indian automobile manufacturer Tata Motors, Jaguar still produces most of its vehicles at home in plants shared with Land Rover.

Jaguar Land Rover leading UK car producer

Of car producers based in the UK, Jaguar Land Rover was the largest in 2018. 449,304 vehicles were manufactured in JLR’s Birmingham, Halewood and Solihull plants. This made up roughly 30 percent of all passenger cars manufactured in the UK.

Jaguar Land Rover generates 25.8bn GBP in 2018

Jaguar Land Rover’s parent company Tata Motors had more than tripled their revenue figures since 2010, generating 45.2 billion U.S. dollars in 2018. By comparison, Jaguar Land Rover had made 25.8 billion British pounds (approximately 33.8 billion U.S. dollars) in global sales that same year.
