Variable servicing

Featured Replies

A local Skoda Dealer confirmed to me today that all UK Octavias and Superbs which can be set for variable servicing are delivered from the factory with that setting. However, that particular Dealer then resets those cars to fixed (10,000 mile interval) servicing. The message here is: don't assume that just because you car can be set for variable servicing, it is set for such servicing!

The chaps I spoke to at Gordon Lambs in Chesterfield a month or so ago confirmed to me that all cars were delivered from Skoda set to variable servicing and that they were quite happy to let customers drive away with this in place. However, I am leasing my car from Swifts Autocare in Sheffield and they are purchasing it from Lambs. When Swifts take delivery of it they will change it back over to fixed servicing. David Underwood, the owner and head mechanic, says he doesn't care how good the new oils are supposed to be, he's not having one of his cars going 15-20k miles without an oil change. This really doesn't bother me because they don't charge main dealer prices, he'll discount the extra work and he knows what he's talking about when it comes to VAG cars.

Wrong thread but he says he had another RS owner in today...'Was it you!'

Had my car 'variable serviced' today. The dealer claims that most owners have asked to change to fixed 10k servicing 'because they think it's cheaper' :?:

Don't understand how anyone could come to this conclusion - it's

I can't work out the 'more servicing=cheaper' logic either!

I don't do huge mileage (18-20k per year) and I know Swifts attitude is going to cost me a little more but it's David's car at the end of the day so...
