Clutch problems

Featured Replies

Hi all ive not long got myself a Octavia vrs mk1 im enjoying it very much but its seems as though the clutch is slipping just wondering whats the best clutch to buy and at a good price ive heard ive gotta replace the flywheel aswell im abit sceptical of it all would be great if anyone could help. My current mileage is 194k.

Don't have to replace the flywheel if there's nothing wrong with it, but some people fit a G60 flywheel (not dual-mass) and VR6 clutch. This is going to be more expensive than just replacing the clutch and keeping the standard DMF.

DMF failures don't really seem to be a problem on the 1.8Ts like they can be on the diesels.

I haven't needed to replace the clutch on mine yet (had it 8 years and currently on 201k), but if I did I would just keep the DMF and get a new clutch kit.

Not worth the risk of a dodgy clutch brand so make sure you get something decent quality.

i had 1.8t octavia for parts, removed the gearbox to put it on my 1.6sr...car had 299000km and flywheel's free play was like on the new-3 teeth i think.
