Grill removal acording to Skoda workshop manual

Featured Replies

I was sure there was a way to remove just the grill and not the whole front, but I guess not. The first step is to remove the red part (don´t know the english word for it – the second image), then the grill (as on the first image), which acording to Skoda is a part of the front bumber.

Typo

Wheel house/housing liner, or what we in UK might call a wheel arch liner. That needs some of its fixings removed so that you can reach the bumper cover securing bolts normally on all VW Group cars.

Probably safer to remove the undershield or under engine covering especially the part nearest the front of the car as well to make life easier.

Remember that the official workshop manuals will always recommend a procedure that minimises damage and allows the quoted times to be achieved as well as making sure that the fitter/tech is not being expected to perform some crazy moves.

It could be that a DIYer with plenty time of their hands and no "employment laws" governing how they operate, could find an easier (to them) way of doing this while not bothering too much about causing slight bodywork damage.

You will not reach these two screws unless you remove the wheel arch liners. And to reinstall them you need to leave the lights and front bumper as loose as possible to give yourself room to actually turn them. Very tight area that will leave some bite marks on your arms. And the front lights simpy won´t come off unless you lower the whole front bumber. Insanely impractical design.

The grill is not part of the front bumper as it is sold as a separate part. I think that it is probably possible to remove it without taking the bumper off, as you can with the citigo, but I have not attempted it. I suspect it is clipped to the bumper, and it is possible to get at them when the top screws are removed. However, you need to look at a grill that is off to ascertain where they are. There is a hole in the top at each end and you can see one clip.

And it will break very easily if you try to separate it from the bumper.

Have you removed the grill?

Bought a monte Carlo grill for my Fabia and I'm a little worried to break something.

Misstänker att du är svensk, är bra forum detta 😃
