I all honesty, I'd have preferred to go Japanese for my daily car.  I do just trust Japanese more in terms of reliability.

However, as time has changed, IMO they've not kept up with fast every day cars...  the only option I really had was the new Civic Type R and that's both expensive and ugly. Mazda's new 6 just isn't very quick, the Accord is gone (and the quickest was diesel in the last gen), Toyota just do quick coupes and boring cars, Nissan either make incredibly boring cars or batcrap crazy ones, Lexus are nice but overpriced for anything decent, nothing for the normal person.

Before I found out I've got child no2 on the way, I was toying with either a GT86 or S2000, however I now need accessible rear seats.

For 4/5 doors + decent power, german/VAG seems to have the market covered.

I say that, but in the US there's far more option for Jap cars, they love them over there.  Pretty much every cab is a Toyota and they do silly miles.  Drove a friend's Acura TL 3.5 V6 VTEC and that was lovely too.  We don't get the good stuff.

Apoligies, that kinda went OT.

Going OT on Briskoda is perfectly normal. I have the T shirt and Gold Medal to prove (some would say I am an expert at it).:tongueout:

As far as service intervals go, i have a 1973 land drover which lists daily service intervals and oil changes in very dusty/ desert conditions.

Ok, the oil change it refers to is the oil bath air filter which draws the intake air over a pool of oil to catch the dust . I dont think i would use anything expensive for that !😁

I was disappointed at the 9k standard service intervals of the Octavia compared with the 12.5k intervals on my 2003 Focus. Fortunately my annual mileage has dropped, so it's not a problem.
