Help! Annoying Rattling

Featured Replies

Hello people.

There are a couple of weeks that a annoying rattling developed in my car. The rattling appears at harsh road surfaces and slight bumps that can produce vibrations. I found the source of the rattlling but I have no idea how to cure it. Following the steering column from the steering wheel to the pedals there is a plastic cover that is look alike the fuses cover. Behind that plastic trim, and as a continuance of the way of the steering coumn, there is a big plastic cylinder where cables comes from the engine bay.

That big cylinder is the one that rattles. I have no idea what that part is neither how to make is stop rattling.

Any commends and help are really welcomed.

Thanks in advance, Stratos.

@stratosg - My usual gotos for that sort of rattle involve foam rubber or cardboard between components.

I have already placed a piece of cloth, and that thing is stable but the rattling comes from the inside of that cylinder. And I have no idea what this component is. I just can feel with my hand the cables that are attached in the one side of that cylinder. The other side has nothing in it. The cylinder is in horizontal position.
