Playing movies & TV in the car

Featured Replies

I'm wondering if it is possible to play movies etc on the entertainment systems in the 245's?

I have the Amundsen system with a spare SD card slot but wondering if its possible to play on the screen from the iPhone for something like Netflix or just films etc on the SD card?

Perhaps you could ask Sasha Grace that question on her separate page as she is very knowledgeable when it comes to infotainment systems on the Mk 3 having installed a VC dash and the latest 9.2" columbus screen in her 2014 Vrs. I would like to know what I could do with the 2nd spare SD card slot too out of interest any suggestions would be appreciated.

AFAIK nothing direct on the Amundsen. The second SD card slot I believe is just for music.

Apps allowed to work on CarPlay are very locked down by Apple and don't include anything that would play movies. There are hacks that enable other apps to work, i think CarBridge is the main one, it does require Jailbreaking your iPhone though so I haven't bothered.

Edit: To say I'd imagine things are a bit easier on the Android side as it's a more open system.

On My MIB1 Columbus I can play movies from the SD-card (although not many codecs are supported).

The caveat is that the video is only displayed when the vehicle is stationary but it works fine when you are waiting to collect someone from the train station etc.

Not sure if the Amundsen supports this?

For info, I use the two SD-card slots to separate the music for different drivers (SD1 wifes music, SD2 my music).

it can be done...

And how is this done sir??

I should also like to know plz

You can jailbreak your iPhone and use Carbridge or NGXPlay or you can root your Android phone and Johnny will have to take you from there because I’ve never had an Android phone.

look for AA-Stream on xda.developers.com, you will need to root an android phone.

I'm running lineageos 16 (android 9 pie) on a Samsung S5 and turn off disable BT and your main phone for calls.

The bigger question is why on earth would you want to watch a film while you're driving?

Seems like a big distraction to me surely?  Even if just passengers are watching it.

AFAIK it's illegal if it's in the drivers field of view.

Before I got Amazon music unlimited I at one point tried playing music on YouTube with my phone on a holder....  I very quickly decided that was a bad idea as you end up watching the videos in your peripheral vision even if you don't mean to.

You cant watch when your driving and if you could you would end up in a ditch or looking like Marty...

Please PM me I need to know how. Got  all this iptv on my phone just need to have in  car now. Thanks

IPtv isnt great to be honest.

This is not easy due to the KNOX security and all the other security features built into android. I had a decent galaxy S5 and rooted it with a custom ROM which removed the knox and allowed me to install the AA Mirror app.

there's a huge thread on it in that post the link is to the android developers website.

I'm with a Xiaomi phone which pretty much allows me to do anything..got iptv on it with amazing quality from an app. Just need to connect it to the car without complications.

then you need to find the AA mirror apk on xda.developers.com (search for 'AA mirror' thread).
