Standard alloy colour?

Featured Replies

Alloys are in need of a refurb, they’re currently black on a silver vrs, what colour would people go for? Don’t want something that will stick out like a saw thumb though 😂

Why not match the car and go with Silver.

That was my first thought tbh, I’ve seen a few and it looks smart all silver

After a lot a searching I opted for rattle can silver wheel.

Recently, when refurbishing the rear spoiler I bought some diamond silver from hycote. I used this to refresh the outside of the wheels.

Much better than silver wheel. It is lighter in colour. It lacks the 'sparkle' seen in direct  sunlight of the original paint but looks great.

Make sure you use acidic etch primer for bare metal and leave overnight. If you are not taking off tyre from alloy a pack of playing cards saves masking off the tyre sidewall. Good luck

Ps perfect weather for drying at moment.

I’ll not be doing it myself, haven’t got the time and tbh the alloys are in a right state so they need doing properly and for £150 fully refurbished I can’t complain at all

This is what I had done to mine, can never go too bright

Good price.

I think I was quoted £400 for 4 wheels a few years ago.

What type of paint are they using? I heard about powder coating and others using 2k. As for powder coating I was just offered 'silver'.

The rattle can solution is only good for a couple of years. But once done they can be redone easily and inexpensively.

Helpful when wife finds the kerb etc
