Bulletproofing

Featured Replies

hey everyone,

I got my hands on a 2012 Oct Mrk2 FL 2.0 Tdi with 103kw + DSG

Looking for upgraded/ welded intercooler with piping that can fit in the stock or near stock placement and not a higher output turbo (maybe) but one that is higher quality than the stock one(Garrett?).

also opinions on any exhausts that dont drone, i can weld my own if one doesn't exist but if there is time tested solution....

and potentially an intake but i have also heard the stock just needs a high flow filter.

I can seem to find parts for this car that are aftermarket, i know its not the fastest car but man, when i find anything i feel like Indiana Jones finding the city of gold.

**** also going to be taking a look at the cam bearings if anyone has the manufacturers that make a upgraded? or modification to keep the bearings from destroying themselves.

**** I have to do a timing belt, water pump, dual mass flywheel job so i am not so worried about jumping in neck deep. (it doesnt need it now but im a "fix it for peace of mind" kinda guy)

I have a very similar car with a manual gearbox and if it's anything like mine, it should already be bulletproof ;)

Mine has done ~174k miles (~126k miles since I bought it) and in that time:

- Repaired one wire (EGR cooler bypass valve)

- Replaced the ignition switch

- Used 8 tyres

- Had fresh oil/filters every 18k miles

- Did the cambelt/auxbelt/water pump at 5 years old

- New brake fluid every 2/3 years

- Battery after 5 years (precaution)

- Took it for it's first AC recharge this year, it had lost less than 5%

It's never had a turbo, DPF, DMF or EGR issue. I've not even had to replace the brake pads or discs yet...

I've been tempted to remap it but it doesn't seem worth it while it's working so well :D
