Superb II FL combi taillight screw part number

Featured Replies

Hello,

Last week end I wanted to replace the RH taillight bloc by a RHD one in order to have 2 rear fog light.

It turns (no pun intended) that the top mounting screw to the chassis was damaged by someone having

it fitted with too much torque (Torx slot in the head damaged, will have to use a screw extractor).

In the Workshop guide sect. 4.3 where the procedure to remove the taillights is described there is no part number provided

for these screw.

Does anyone know what the part number is ?

Thinking about replacing all of them by Ti ones so that there won't be any corrosion at

this point.

Thanks in advance

 Lionel

They are the 2 screws without reference behind the cover piece number 18.

I guess they are fairly standard but want to make sure to be on the safe side so that the car last as long as possible.

BTW: Very interesting site indeed .... :-)

In the end did not needed to use a screw extractor. Used metallic epoxy to bind the screw head to an M6 nut.

Epoxy works wonders. Almost as useful as a Swiss army knife.

See attached picture.

Mounting the replacement tail light, broke the heads of both ball screws :-(

Will have to order them and remove the existing ones, likely with help from some epoxy resin :-)

To "LBLJ" - You are good :)

To "LBLJ" THANKS !  - never thought of that ! Was going to cut a slot with small anglegrinder disc and add WD40 and brute force.

It works as long as the parts which are going to be covered in Metal Epoxy resin of 2 pieces are degreased  __AND__ you let it solidify overnight so that the binding is really solid.

Same process with plastic parts but use plastic / general epoxy resin.

figures - I'll do all that.

When I find a dry day - and nothing on SWMBO's  DO-LIST - I'll be able to fit the second LED reversing bulb !

And  thanks again
