More help please !! Just received my free Three sim card which now has to be registered with Three. So the fun begins ; my laptop, nor any other device I own takes a standard size sim and I don't have a sim card reader that takes a standard sim either. Skoda on line manual makes the sim size that fits into the glove compartment slot somewhat ambiguous by calling it a mini sim, (though they do mention Standard size in brackets) which is not a size used by Three. It's either Standard (which I assume is what I need), micro or nano.

So, have I now got to buy a standard size sim card reader so I can connect to my laptop or is there any way I can register the sim in my car ?

Getting my Victor Meldrew head growing now 😖

Copied from the other forum where someone had the exact same problem..

“Put the sim in the car.
Switch on the car’s wireless hotspot.
Connect your phone or tablet to the car’s Wi-fi.

The next bit can be a bit complicated. When your phone connects it may try and take you to Three’s generic registration page which you don’t want. If it does you’ll need to choose “cancel” and then “use Wi-fi without Internet connection”. Once it does that you can then use Safari on your phone to go Three’s “register for free data” page here: http://devicereg.three.hostedservice.net

It can be a bit easier to connect a laptop to the car’s Wi-fi hotspot to go to Three’s registration page”

Thanks Kenny, does it have to be a Safari browser, I don't have Apple products, My phone is android.

Sorry don’t really know but I would imagine any browser could be used.

Thanks again Kenny, I'll give it a go. I expect I'll be back 😣

Also, the sim does come apart (and is able to be joined back together) to whatever size fits into your unlocked (or Three) phone if that is easier?

Well that's interesting but how does it go back together ?

I've just spent ages in the car with both a phone and a laptop and nothing would play ball. The car recognised the sim but it wouldn't do anything because I can't register the bloody thing !!

As it was free, I think the sim might be heading for the dustbin anytime soon.😞

It’s just press fit.

Start with the basics; is your phone unlocked?

If not, why not take the sim to a Three shop and sort it out in one of their phones?

It really isn’t that difficult to do but there’s the groundwork first.

I had this issue when I got my free '3' sim. So I squeezed out the nano size first, then put it into my android phone (Samsung galaxy).

Registered it for the free 200mb/month data, then after it was all done with confirmation via text etc.

I took the nano-size out of the phone and press squeezed it back into the mini (standard) size.

Took it to the car and this was where I was careful how I slipped it in (as I read here the troubles someone went through due to slipping it in the wrong way - since you already have had that done, it shouldn't be an issue).

I hope this helps.

My car is December 2018 issue so I don't have the GE to begin with.

Thankyou all for your help and patience guys, I finally got sorted by having a live chat with Three. It didn't start well as when I first tried, their system was being updated and the second time, a very impatient operator cut me off whilst I was typing, insinuating that they thought I'd gone. Anyway, on the third time of trying a more patient fellow did the registration online whilst I was chatting to him.

Shame they don't give you that option when the sim arrives cos this has obviously happened before.

I've got a bit less hair now than when I got up this morning 😉

I had the same issue and went through the same rigmarole as you. In the end I sat in the car with my laptop, whilst on Three's Live Chat where they were able to register it for me.

All covered, at length, here...
