Thurs night northern meet.....

Featured Replies

A few of us northern folk meet most thursay nights for a small cross country blast and a pub natter session.... Not far from J6, M61.

All welcome, mail me for details...

agree, most fun even when we don't drive.

very pleasant pub, nice atmosphere, amazingly interesting people

come along, the more the merrier.

[i:2304ed023e]might[/i:2304ed023e] be able to meet up this thursday for a very quick drink though not a drive, as this exam is time consuming.

should be in the area though to conclude some shady dealings with Mr. cooke........

anyone else available?

in all probability, will not be able to make it today as my folks have come down from scotland and are staying with us till tomorrow. in saying that, there was talk from them about doing some late night shopping at the trafford centre - if that happens , then i'm on for tonight.

if i don't post again on this today, assume i am not able to come :(

*I will join you*

Wow your post changed Huck.

i'm definitely up for this thursday, no exams, visiting parents etc. etc.

:bup:

Huck,

Thursday would be good, a to discuss this site and of course the 15th, oh and maybe have a :driving: or a pint.

I couldn't resist either.

Isn't that a bit 'South' for true Northern members?

we may be centralising the weekly meet during the winter months due to the generally unfavourable driving conditions and would like to be able to meet up with some more of the north west lot on thursday evenings.

rob, witchfinder, that means you btw!

as usual, very pleasant evening.

thanks guys.

Sounds like a plan. Where were you thinking of?

well at the mo', we haven't decided on anywhere and tbh, we're very fond of our current meeting place near horwich as it's very quiet and pleasant. if you've got any suggestions for a quiet place more centrally, we'd love to hear about them, but places like the trafford centre etc. are bloody heaving at the times we meet up.

of course, you're still more than welcome to come along to our regular haunt this thursday :)

regards,

I guess it largely depends on where everyone else who comes to the meetings is driving from. I've never tried driving to Bolton/Horwich (except the odd trip to Scan computers). What's the M61 like at that time of night?

Personally, somewhere in the Rochdale/Oldham vicinity is best for me, but it's probably well out of the way for everyone else!

Rob,

I *nip* out on Thursday to Bolton from Warrington. AFAICT the M-ways are quiet, unless a big bump, but so far it's not been a problem for me. Then again I only potter up the 62 and 61 not the 60.

m61 - very quiet at that time usually.

close to ian's home but that's purely because the roads are there that we go out on.

i come from stockport so about 30 odd miles from me.

colin comes from warrington, so i think about the same for him.

we don't necessarily meet up every single week, but we try as much as poss. could be closer for my liking but, have to say, i really do like the pub in which we meet and i think it's worth the drive.

in saying that, nothing is set in stone ( for winter at least - when the weather improves for regular drives out, there's no question of being anywhere else! ) and if there's a suitable place to meet that's more central, we'd give it a go, of that i'm sure.

Agreed, we can go anywhere over winter....

That said, our little pub in Horwich is a "car pub" and the car park is safe. It's also quiet and getting served is never a problem.

It's tempting to change but they are a friendly bunch, it's nice to give support to make sure they are still there come summer.

The location was originally chosen as central for a scoobynet meet, Jim's from Bury way, Andrew comes down from Lancaster way, so it would be nice if we consider the scooby peeps, as thats who supported the meet in summer, it's also Jim we have to thank for most of the route we did at the weekend.

I'm up for a spin out and a beer this week if you guys are up for it?

<nods> will be there.

absolutely, thanks jim, was great fun!

exam results are coming out on thursday, so may/may not be in the mood depending on the outcome. if i'm out and weather/road conditions permitting, would be great to go out for a drive.
