Overheated

Featured Replies

On my way to work tonight car alarmed for overheating and needle was over 130c. Pulled over on the motorway turned off engine and checked coolant, all Ok. Started engine and drove and needle and temp dropped to 90c. This is the first time this has happened and is it just a coincidence that i had oil change on monday.

2.0 diesel 15 plate 62000

Might be related, especially if something not serviced correctly

Was coolant changed, could have been airlock, is it leaking

Did someone knock a sensor cable connector

Is the oil level now correct

Could there be a blockage in oil feed pipe (common reason for turbo failure) as new oil may have flushed some grot around system

Check oil level on dipstick and coolant level visually on expansion bottle and if not right call your servicing garage to correct their work

I have had the waterpump and cambelt replaced but now i am having a coolant issue. Coolant level dropping even when car is just sat on the drive no leaks can be seen, and also noticed after a drive on the motorway the coolant tank has pressure and level expands. I have had in to the garage who changed waterpump and belt and they can't see anything and suspect air in system

Air in the system seems quite common after refilling the coolant on these engines.

Many people on the forum have complained about the same as you (coolant level dropping) but after a few top-ups by the garage it settled down.

I would take it back to the garage, ask them to rerun their process for bleeding air from the system, keep it overnight & top it up in the morning to the correct level.

Did you get any kind of discount or contribution from Skoda to replace the pump or did you use an independant garage?

I used an independant garage half the price of skoda and skoda wouldn't just change the waterpump they wanted £105ph for diagnostics, and said they couldnt find the problem that day i wouldn't be allowed to take my car home

Less hassle to pay for it myself.

Ive taken back ti the garage who did the work and no leaks air in system just to keep an eye in level
