TDI100 on the B660

Featured Replies

So I was having a long, hard think about selling the Fabia and getting something a little more... interesting, because as a town car it is a bit bland, and it isn't exactly a motorway cruiser, either.

On Monday I was up on the B660 in the Fabia on a job. I arrive about an hour early and decide to go for a drive. What a phenomenal road! The car is fun again. Something to do with the thin tyres and the Eibachs - it feels really cool. And the ASR / ABS combo for when it all goes a badly wrong (which it did at one point). Maybe it could do with a stiffer front ARB, but that's about all.

The way the torque boots you out of a corner is my favourite bit. Eventually the person I was meeting showed up (following me from behind in a 220d) and even he commented on how it pulled away. All that punch from a remapped 100TDI, ha! I'd be interested in getting the Cupra intake and a panel filter to see what happens next.

I also love it because it was a bit of a bargain. It has needed a lot of work, the bodywork isn't great, the interior is lunacy for the job I do, but ultimately it packs a lot for your money and looks pretty smart. I'm putting this down now so that every time I go looking for a different car, I can refer back to this thread.

If you've never been on the B660 and find yourself in the area, make it part of your journey.

Out of interest, where is the b660 then?!?!!??!

Cambridgeshire. It runs between Bedford and... I forget. Best bit is near Kimbolton.

A fair drive form southampton then!
