Trace amounts of oil in air intake

So I just changed the air filter in my fabia and I noticed a little trickle of oil in the intake. Looks like it ran down the inside as its sloped. Wasn't any in the air box. Normal?

Yeah that’s normal

My intake is completely dry. Engine is the same and it has 62000 kilometers on the clock.

Do you have any noticeable oil consumption and what kind of oil do you use?

I have the same. Nothing wrong with it

Yes, I noticed that when I was changing the air filter at 4 years and 28K miles, though I thought it was in the other, ie high pressure pipe had some oil had dripped out off, that pipe, I thought, only had some clear lubricant on the inside of the bore probably to assist with initial assembly of a plastic to plastic part.

I don't remember seeing anything in the small rubber hose that connects to the air box, didn't look too closely though. Looks a bit worse in the photo, but was only the bit at the end... further up, looks like liquid but its just bumps in the pipe (for clearance?). Looked dry everywhere apart from at the end. Car had been sat for 24 hours. Its only just had an oil change, castrol edge 5W-40. Not had the car long so not noticed any real oil usage as asked.

The crankcase breather recirculates back into the intake 

@Confused_Cheese, it was not the small crankcase breather pipe I was meaning, nothing seemed to be showing in that one, it was the charge pipe that I also removed as I was replacing the spark plugs, not essential to remove that pipe but I was having trouble opening up the clip at the other end of that air cleaner pipe using the tool that I had bought, so just removed the clipped on charge pipe to make life easier.

Ahh so the breather dumps air with trace amounts of oil into the air box from that rubber hose, getting sucked back through the box into the intake pipe and what I saw was some of that which had condensed/drained into the intake? Makes sense, thanks guys. 

Of course it is possible/probable that it was that air cleaner pipe assembly that had traces of oil in it, I had removed it completely and placed it safely out of the way on a folding platform and noticed when I went to pick it up at there were a couple of spots of oil on the ground below it, so yes oil mist getting drawn through along with the air/fumes being drawn through the crankcase, the reason why you would never see oil on the small flexible rubber breather pipe would be that the stub on the air filter housing is so long. I'm a sucker for buying tools so after needing to use a pair of long nosed pliers and a block of wood as a spacer, to ease that pipe off, I've gone and bought a "rubber hose removal pliers" - I'll need to wait 4 years hopefully before I use them - unless my mate thinks about changing the plugs/air filter in his T-Roc before that!
