suspension upgrade

Featured Replies

Hi

we bought a superb last year really pleased with it until I started towing my caravan with it when loaded up the rear suspension is really bouncy is there any suspension upgrades I can get  ?

thanks Ade

Have a look at MAD Suspension. They have updated springs for towing but also air bag helpers. I fitted the air bag helpers to my brothers Octavia estate and they were great use as you inflate them when needed and deflate when not via air valve in the boot. This gives the benefit when you’re not towing you don’t need to put up with the harsh suspension from unrated springs.

Do you have any weight in the back of the car? An empty boot will make the bouncing worse as there's less resistance to the caravan bobbing about.

Is your noseweight set correctly?  The Mk III can take 90kg.

Tyre pressures correct? I'm on 19" wheels and run 42psi front and 46psi rear when towing.

If your Superb has DCC then switch the suspension to sport mode.  I set my individual profile to sport steering + sport suspension with everything else in normal when towing and it helps.

Hi

Yep tyres are inflated to maximum, nose weight is around max and the boot is full . It's a fine line between being too heavy on the nose and the car bouncing. If I lighten the nose weight it feels really unstable . The last 2 tow cars I had towed really good and didn't matter what weight I was towing. I went into Skoda yesterday, they don't do any upgrades through Skoda but the paramedic cars they have in have been upgraded with anti roll bars (erbasbac).
