Speaker cutting out when opening or closing door

Featured Replies

My driver side speakers are cutting out when I open the door. If I press on the rubber bit in between the door it has same effect.

This only has started to happen when the front left door was taken apart and put back to fix a broken window regulator.

Could the pulling of wires in the front left passenger door affected connections in the front right driver door?

Cracked wiring between the driver's door and the body is a common issue. Nothing to do with what you did to the passenger door. You either solder the damaged wires back together or replace the wiring harness in the door. New harnesses are longer to prevent the problem recurring.

Any guides to how to access the wires. The rubber boot on mine is so tight I don’t want to damage it pulling it off. Thanks in advance for any help.

I just had similar problem with my car and fixed broken wires with soldering.

Here are some steps how I did:

1. I unplugged connector from A-pillar and then pulled wires out a little from the door do get access to rubber boot/cover fixed electrical tape in door side

2. Removed electrical tape, which is holding rubber boot/cover in door side

3. Removed pins from connector

4. Pull wires out from rubber boot/cover and fix them and put it back together

I had this on my 2009 Superb. Its a common fault especially on the drivers side. There wasn't enough play in the wiring to effect a repair so i bought a new loom. When i took the door card off the insulation on the cabling was in really poor condition. Its not difficult to replace the loom but make sure you get the right part because Skoda gave me the wrong loom initially.

There are videos on line showing how to do the replacement and you may need something called a connector removal tool to get at the final connection to the door lock inside the door. It was less than £10 and made it much easier after cutting my hands to shreds on it before.
