Octavia vRS anti roll bar link rods

Featured Replies

I had my 2001 51 plate octavia vRS MOT'd yesterday and the only advisory was worn anti roll bar link rods. I'd noticed a slight knocking from the nearside so decided to change them. I got them from my usual motor factors but they were the wrong ones (too short) as mine seem to be around a foot long. I've then looked on eurocar parts and GSF but cannot find them anywhere. My local motor factors tell me the correct part will be dealer only as they only list one for my car, which is obviously incorrect. The MOT tester told me these were a very common fail of many VAG cars so surely can't be dealer only, can they ??

My car is a 51 plate hatchback with 16" wheels (original). Can anyone suggest where I may source these from apart from the local dealer

I would get them from a dealer as there have been some revisions to the Fabia ones and it may well be the case for the Octavia.

If you mean the drop links they should be around £25 each. If you mean the connecting link they should be around £21 each. There are several numbers listed.

I'm not sure of the correct term for the "things" I need. They are a long rod (around 1 foot) with a rubbber bush and bolt at either end. They bolt onto something behind the front wheel and connect to something else straight down from there !

Are these connecting links or drop links ??

Sorry to sound so dumb - I just drive the thing.

anyway thanks for the reply VRStu, excellent website by the way.

many thanks

They'll be the drop links then.

you should ask for audi s3 link bars front you will then get the correct thing

p/no from local supplier eg Partco ect

they can cross it from this Firstline no LH FDL6556 RH FDL6557

I've ordered them from the dealer. They traced the exact part using the chasis number. I had a similar problem trying to obtain an anti roll bar link arm for my wifes mazda premacy a couple of years ago. I eventually went to the main dealer and got the exact part required for only a couple of pounds more than various motorfactors were quoting for a pattern part.

thanks for the help and advice.

Shouldn't take you long to change. I had my Fabia ones changed under warranty and they quote 11 minutes each for fitting!!!

Dealers wont quite 11 minutes for anything, the time clock is divided up into 0.1 increments so 0.1 is 6 mins. 0.2 would be 12 mins.

;)
