DI AND MPI on 2014 EA888 ?

Featured Replies

Hi guys/girl,

Quick question as I can't see to find a static answer on this one after some Googling and searching around the forum.

I have a 2014 Octavia VRS TSI with the EA888 Gen3 engine. Can anyone confirm if this engine has the dual injection system? I know it definitely has the direct injection, but not sure about the port injection to help clean the back of the valves.

Thanks! :)

Wrong acronym used in title

I believe all Mk3s have the extra port injectors.  I did read pre-launch that the FL 245 didn't but I'm not sure I believe that as there was some codswallop printed about other things.

Thanks for replying Juan :)

That's good news, means I don't need to worry about a carbon clean at some point!

I could be wrong but I'm fairly certain I've read that pre-fl all have port injection + DI. This is regardless of whether it's a 220 or 230.

Facelift cars only have DI. Again regardless of it being a 230 or 245.

My FL 230 has the hardware for MPI so I'm pretty sure that it has both.

Interesting. Maybe the change came in with the GPF then?

If it helps, I now the FL 190 with GPF has Multi Port Injection. As far as I know it's the US market that doesn't get MPI.
