Inspection Reset

Featured Replies

How do I reset this message? I've tried holding down 0.0/  SET and switching on ignition but this hasn't worked. It worked to reset service but I can't clear inspection with this method. Can I use OBDeleven for this?

Are you talking about the inspection service reset? If so, yes OBDeleven or VCDS can be used to reset it. Why has it come on? Are you doing your own servicing out of warranty? Any dealer or decent independent should reset it when they carry out the service.  FWIW I get them to do the two services at the same time.

There is not 2 services done at the same time.    **Do not encourage them, they get paid good money for old rope as it is!.**

You are on Fixed Annual or Variable / Flexible, or as was Minor and Major and now they call a Oil Change an Interim.

If the Tech resets the Major Service Interval and leaves an Inspection Service showing they are just using the gear with no idea.

Some people on Variable / Flexible servicing left for 24 months apart should maybe have someone 'look over the car with a professional eye' every 12 months or sooner

if they are not doing it.

Sorry @Roottootemoot, but now I'm confused. Regardless of what the dealer actually does in the workshop, the car's infotainment system tells the driver there are two services required. These are an oil service and an inspection service. They have different date and mileage requirements (at least on a variable service regime). I get my dealer to carry out both, and reset both indicators at the oil service. As part of the deal they give me a written report on the checks undertaken (which go beyond oil change and fluid level checks) and a link to video of them checking tyre tread condition.

Have I missed the point somewhere?

Car health checks should always be done by Main Dealers when a vehicle is in,

the Menu above for Fixed Services on cars shows what 3-10 year old cars can get, as a minimum that is.

Nothing is done for nothing, just the Expensive 'Free wash and vacuum'.

You see the Oil & Filter & MOT includes a 'Vehicle Inspection'. £99 and a MOT is done, that will be a Vehicle Inspection that should be good as a Body Warranty Inspection and Pre MOT sort of thing as well.

Or what is the Vehicle Inspection, Test and report ?

Up to a few years back there was a Minor Service which was also called an Inspection Service at 9,400 miles / 372 day or sooner,

and what was called a Major Service 9,400 miles / 372 days or sooner next.

Time about.

Body Inspection for the warranty was supposed to be done at each.

Now there is Fixed Service or Major and have a major done sooner than 18,000-20,000 miles / 24 months if you want.

VW Group just have a stupid set up on the car and when Resetting the Service Indicator lots of techs or fitters can not do it correctly or be bothered to.

Ok - yes understood and the major/minor arrangement was used on my previous Mk2. It's actually worse now - they've moved on again from what you describe.  Entering my reg number into the Skoda internet booking system, it told me I need a "second service" - yet another different version, but equivalent to the old "major service" and priced at that level, exactly as I expected. Utterly confusing for the driver who doesn't have access to Briskoda, but a great way of making sure the fleet manager approves the spend. Interestingly when it told me this, the car had already had a second service, but that's a different story. They reset both indicators as part of the process.

But we are drifting far away from the OP. So to bring it back on track - @Banquo what message do you get? Would it be possible to post a photo of it? And who is servicing your car?

I won't be taking the car to a dealer, I'll be using my local garage. I did an oil and filter change myself yesterday and the Inspection warning has been bugging me for a few days. I have managed to reset it somehow

Excellent. If your local garage services VAG cars it will deal with the messages. If you do it yourself, OBDeleven and VCDS can be used to reset the service message. At the end of the day it is just a "nag" message, but it bugs me just as much as it does you.

Hi all,

My Superb is bugging me with an Oil Service and Inspection message.

It seems to have been timed with the build date (ie the car is now 12 months old), but I only got the (new) car in May.

I've talked to the local Skoda service dept and they tell me the first service should be due 12 months (or 15000 km) after warranty start date. We have fixed 12 months, 15000 km services here in Oz.

I suspect that something should have been reset during pre-delivery and wasn't.

To my point.

There's instructions on the web on resetting the oil service via the odometer reset button as noted above.

However, I have virtual cockpit, so no odometer button.

Any way to reset without VCDS etc?

Hi,

I have this same problem - I have reset the service indicator after a recent oil change but keep getting the inspection symbol now.

Is it not possible to reset this via the dashboard etc?

If not, can it be done with a standard OBD2 interface ?

Thanks

Does anyone have the answer on how to reset this display?

I'm pulling my hair out trying to sort this ****er!

I tried the method in this link out of curiosity and it reset both, I think that it's a matter of timing to get it to work.

I managed to reset the oil inspection warning with this method, but it wouldn't do the spanner inspection now warning.

To clear the spanner inspection now, I put the hazards on first, and repeated the whole exercise. I was asked 'clear inspection', and I pressed the little wheel on the right hand side of the steering wheel. I then turned the ignition off and back on again, and the warning has gone.

Thanks for the link Gus755

You're welcome.
