Goodbye folks!

Featured Replies

Ok, so been on here for years and years. What a great site. Colin D is the best and so are his cohorts! But I've fully retired now and a completely new life for me and my wife is just beginning. It doesn't involve cars at all except for my Citroen.

I no longer own a Skoda. As some of you know the last two new Skoda's I bought were troublesome beyond belief and so I moved to Citroen. Having now covered 27,900 miles in one year without a single issue, I'm happy.

Just wanted to say thanks to all and sundry who have taken the time to read my posts and comment, good or bad, on what I've written. Although I've spent a lifetime as a tech & engine design and development engineer, I've learned much from this site about the Skoda mark. Skoda are good cars, if not quite so good as they used to be (based upon my own experiences and that of others, and pulling down some of the newer VW motors in them). I wasn't impressed!

So to say goodbye is hard. I've gotten to know some of you personally, and others like xman and George and too many others to name have been great to chat to online over the years. Truly a good people place. So thank you all for a really good time over the years and all the best to you and everyone!

I'm off into the sunset now having just had major surgery to fix a bit of an issue. It's been planned for several months now. Surgery was a complete success I'm told so I'm pretty pleased. Wife is good too having just had two major brain surgeries to save her life. We're recovering together!

Goodbye everyone & thanks again....

Adios GP and wife, you will be missed , you can call in every know and then , good luck . :handshake:

I will JED. And thank you for your kind comments.

Happy trails GP, totally agree about quality issues with VAG group cars of late, I switched to a Hyundai Ioniq six weeks ago.

Good luck with you new Hyundai MoggyTech. They are a great brand and very trouble free.

Wishing you a long and most pleasant retirement with lots of happy sunny days filled with joy and laughter.

Happy future. I too am questioning too the Skoda VAG brand. I am off on a continental road trip in September in my Roomie and the fan resistor has gone on speed 1 so no gentle breeze of aircon until I replace it. It is the first time in 52 years of motoring that I have ever had such a problem. I am starting to like the Citroen aircross models with the pneumatic suspension. French roads used to be awful so we took the mick of Citroen's soft suspension and ride. Whoever thought British roads would end in a similar state. Goodbye and best of luck for the future.

So long GP, I hope you enjoy your retirement as much as I enjoy mine.  I've appreciated your posts on here and learnt much from them.  As with you, I am beginning to question the VAG brand and will probably look elsewhere for my next car.  All the best for the future and I hope you'll still look in from time to time.
