wind noise and vcds

Featured Replies

I've had my car for about a month now (17 plate f/l vrs tdi) and I love it, except for the wind noise. I read a fair bit about it before buying along with general road noise and just assumed it was people being over critical, but it is quite bad. I know its been much talked about but has anybody found a real world solution?

Also, I asked on a previous post about things such as adaptive headlight assist/high beam assist/traffic sign recognition being activated on my car and was told it can be done by someone with VCDS but was wondering if these are just things already there but hidden being turned on or are they being added to software? In other words, if I found someone locally who would/could do it is it likely to cause any issues? Basically I don't want to stuff up my nice new motor.

Cheers, Lee

Don't know about the wind noise issue but vcds is just changing coding in the cars system, not adding software. It's fairly easy to revert if anything goes awry. You'll need the A5 front camera for HBA/TSR though.

Yes you need the A5 camera for TSR, but the 20 camera is sufficient for HBA.

But as you have a vRS you’ll have the A5 camera anyway :) If you are ever up in North Wales, I’m happy to activate everything I can.

Road noise wise, I'm going to experiment with sound proofing the wheel arch liners so I'll let you know.

Honestly thought from reading the thread title that the OP wanted the wind noise sorted using VCDS.

:D actually that would be great as it appears there’s currently no solution to it.

Likewise.
