Mk3 in car entertainment/ stereos

Featured Replies

Hi guys my 2016 Octavia was recently written off and I’ve now managed to acquire a 2015 version however the stereo is not the same and I find it’s not responsive and doesn’t have SmartLink is there any way I can get a unit that will be back to the same capability as the one I had in my original 2016 ?

Also this new 2015 vehicle I’ve now acquired has a silly MDI port instead of USB which I absolutely hate hence wanting to go back onto the same stereo I had before.

1. Replace HU with an advanced OEM, a lot of work

2. Replace HU with 3rd party, there are great options in the aftermarket, straightforward install, a lot more functionalities even then the very best OEM

3. Connect MP3 unit which is connected via CD Changer port, probably cheapest option. I've seen devices with USB, or USB/SD, some even with AUX or Ipod/Iphone ports

I have done this and posted a lot about the upgrading of OEM radio’s for the Mk3. I can’t seen to copy and paste on this forum at the moment but you will find everything through searching my posts.

Not actually that much work. Most of the hard work it carried out by others. You just need to find the right parts and get them sent to the right people for coding.

Some are straight forward I agree. As for functions? I'd argue that the aftermarket units are less integrated into the car and offer little more as a compromise.

Not seen this done on any mk3 as all versions are able to read usb/SD cards and many have Bluetooth.
