Trading my vrs diesel for a petrol ?

Featured Replies

Thinking of swapping my 2014 diesel estate vrs for a 230 petrol 2016 model. Same spec etc, not worried it’s not the 245 A’s I’ll be getting it stage 2 330hp anyway.

Whats everyones thoughts?

Also anyone done stage 2? Did you replace the clutch ?

@shyVRS245 has the fastest car on the forum and I'm sure he'll be able to help out.

Damn.

I should really remembered that as it was only last night when I saw @Ant-Vrs.

Mind you, he did come in his LHD loud Estelle so I may be forgiven for forgetting.

A VAQ diff is more useful than a bigger turbo when front wheel drive is concerned otherwise you are the burn out champion trying to deploy all that power and torque. But you should already know this by going 4 wheel drive for better traction. Tyre manufacturer once said "Power Is Nothing Without Control".:tongueout:

Standard clutch is fine on my wife's stage 2 Vrs245. Without repeating myself my wife's car has 335.9bhp and 517nm (380lb/ft) to deal with. Make sure your 230 is a later model with VAQ diff or you will be destroying tyres quicker than your local Kwik fitter can put them on. Wider 8.5J alloys with sticky Michelin PS4S tyres in 235/35R19 size really do put the power down well even in the wet. If you intend to track the car then uprated stainless steel HEL brakelines are a good investment with Motorsport spec DOT5.1 brake fluid. Never driven a 230 so don't know how good or bad the standard discs are but remember slowing down is more important than accelerating quickly. That's how accidents usually happen.

Earlier, surely?

PFL 230 has VAQ, FL 230 doesn't

Well never owned a 230 but one wheelspins a lot the other doesn't easy to tell on an exuberant test drive.:tongueout:

I didn't actually mention anything about the diff but surely that relates more to cornering ability at speed than 'burnout championing'?

Steve Sutcliffe in Auto Express quite liked the Ateca Cupra after the few months he ran it once he had tailored the Individual setting to his liking. His previous long termer was a 5 door RS3 so it had a hard time following the Audi.

I don't think speed or cornering has anything to do with it. Being able to put the power down when one wheel has less traction is more the area that a fancy or limited slip diff helps with. Having driven some pretty fun roads the last few days in Scotland I am happy I changed my xds setting to high. Didn't think I'd notice the difference but I could feel it tugging on the inside wheel now and then. Average speed on that road was 25-30mph so not high speed at all.
