Vibrations in steering wheel while braking

Featured Replies

Hello guys, I need help, my octy iz shaking like crazy when braking over 80kmh. I had the problem earlier and my mechanic said i need new discs and pads. So i bought new ones (Textar),and changed the old ones. A couple of days later, sam **** happend again, I deffinently know that the problem is from the front discs because when I brake the steering wheel shakes, If the back discs where bent than the steering wouldnt shake....

I am sure that the front discs are not bent  because they are brand new and the quality from textar should be good, and I have not been driving in deep water with hot discs after braking.

Can there be something else to cause this issue?

Please help I dont trust local mechanics, they just dont have a clue. They told me buy new discs and pads again.

I had a similar problem and it turned out to be a wheel bearing on the way out ...

Incorrectly installed front disc has too much run-out? Warped front wheel? Out of round tyre?

How clean was the hub when the discs were fitted?

I had vibration under braking that was fairly noticeable from 100km/h and it was the discs had quite a bit of run out and in addition to the steering wheel you could also feel the brake pedal slightly pulsate.

I'd start with @KenONeill suggestions, if you take the car to a good tyre fitter, get them to balance and maybe wheel align the wheels (or at least check them) and they should notice a warped wheel.  From there wheel bearings are an option, loose suspension / subframe etc etc...

Guys issue was warped discs, hade them done (had them cut even), and now the issue is gone. People say it is a knowen issue on vag cars, discs get warped quickly.

Have a nice day folks,

A week though is very short. must have been faulty. May be worth checking for a binding caliper causing excessive heat.

Hello everyone, guess what, the problem is back again, now the vibrations are back when I put my foot on the brake. I guess I will change the wheel bearings, or I'll just sell the car and buy something with less millage(now at 240 000KM), and less needs for repairing. I also think my clutch set should be changed, I noticed judder when taking off. I'm not too happy about Skoda, I wouldn't buy another one in this lifetime.

So far I've changed (owning for about 2 years) the DMF, egr, twice the stabilizers, twice the brakes, had the dpf "cleaned-removed", noticed rust above the windscreen and so on...
