Creaking nearside window

Featured Replies

My passenger window has started to creak at certain points during opening and closing. Wondered if this has happened to anyone else ? Just need to know if I can leave it for a bit or have to book in pronto.

Cheers

Clean the rubbers and the glass, then apply some silicone lubricant.

If that fixes it, but the noise comes back again, get a can of Gummi Pflege rubber lubricant. An excellent product that cures all sorts of squeaks, and lasts a lot longer than standard silicone spray

Cheers but it's def a mechanical noise not that noise caused by the rubbers isnt of course but this sounds.... More mechanical 🙂

Could be the window regulator - sticky/worn bearing, loose runner, or securing rivets coming loose.

I think you'll need to remove the door card and have a look.

Sticky rubbers can sound surprisingly "mechanical" though. Maybe give the window area a good going over with soapy water and see what happens....

Still in warranty so i'll be sat drinking coffee and watching Avengers Endgame while someone else does it :D

I have the same noise. First time it was fixed by replacing the window guide thing. Now it's back. Not sure what I'm going to do. But as long as window goes fine up/down and there is no extra "movement",  I don't care much. I've had a lot of stuff replaced on this car already...

Both my front windows do this.

It went into the dealer at less than 12 months old but they claimed it was normal and no warranty fix available for it. I argued for about 2 mins and then just thought sod it.

To be honest, i forgot about it until you just mentioned it now, though i have the radio on so dont hear it !

Mine does it.

I thought it was a free noise that came with the noise creak and rattle option seeing as mine creaks more again and so did every other Mk3 superb I drove as courtesy cars.

My drivers window is silent so my argument will focus on that :D
