Considering Mk3 Superb Estate with high-ish miles

Featured Replies

Hi Gus

I'm looking at a fab-looking Superb estate Mk3, Manual early 2016 with 90k+ miles and 5 Skoda Bolton services (roughly oil changs every 15-20k miles - twice a year).  Appears it was a fleet car so I guess Manchester Airport runs etc, but obviously can't be sure.

Anything I should be checking for? Anyone got advice as to whether a car of this sort is a sensible purchase? A friend says it may need belts/water pump changed? I am concerned a little about having an electo-mechanical handbrake (I'd prefer a normal manual one to be honest).

I once had a high mileage Volvo V70 and that needed a new flywheel at 100k miles (£2k job).  Perhaps the Skodas are more reliable?

Many thanks for any advice you can give, esp. from anyone who has direct experience of this model :)

At 90k, it’s on’y recommended to change engine oil and replace all filters (oil, air, fuel, cabin) and wipers.

If DSG equipped, check that DSG oil has been changed at 60k. Otherwise belt shouldn’t be replace 210k without time recommendation (assuming it’s a TDI engine, since you didn’t tell us...😉)

Have look to the other thread about high mileage on TDI190, which is still on the 1st page. It may give you other advises... 😉

I can only advise what i was advised by someone who works on vw group engines...for a lot of time... as long as the oil was changed at spec interval should be fine, I also been told fly wheel is their only common issue at high millage and later on the dpf...

Ps: I am looking at one with 109k miles also but hatch not estate... my one comes with the ea288 2.0 engine crlb... i was also advised to keep clear of the 1.6 from the same family.

Forgot this point: 1,6 TDI with DSG7 (DQ 200 gearbox) should be avoided. Many problems on this gearbox...
