Steel wheels to alloys

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

I'm changing my 2007 Octavia mk2 from steel wheels with hubcaps to standard alloys from a 2015 Octavia mk3.

Can I use the same wheel bolts or will I need new ones? Thanks

Russ

I think you have to change wheel bolts as on the steel wheels the bolts are round at the ends where on the alloy wheels they should have tapers on them.

You need to know the shapes of the bolt lands on both sets of wheels.

If they are both factory wheels they will both be a radius seat (round).

All wheel bolts for our model year (2007) are the same, so I would think you are most likely to be in the same situation.  FYI the part number for the wheel bolts for a 2015 O3 16" alloy wheel is the same - https://skoda.7zap.com/en/cz/octavia/oct/2015-753/6/601-601060/#10.

I've created a guide for the 07 model year which may help:

Cars that come as standard with alloy wheels do not have an extra set of Spare Wheel Bolts for when you need to put the Steel Spare on.

OEM bolts are the same for both OEM steel and alloy wheels.  That's why the spare wheel doesn't come with it's own bolts.
