Cheers for that sepulchrave. I'm gonna use a mirror to look tonight see of I'm a fraction out of line that it's not going in. Cam pulley still tight need to order camshaft sprocket holding tool first

Looks like it's trying to go in at an angle because of the way the block is shaped fed up of this suppose that's what you get for paying 14.50 for the tools

Also is it an actual hole in the flywheel or a machined out slot?

Ok guys thanks very much for all your help had to buy a camshaft sprocket holding tool as well job all done and it's running like a dream now who needs a crankshaft holding tool anyway thanks again.

Good news. How did you hold the engine whilst doing that crank bolt? Can't remember the torque off the top of my head but I know it wasn't small.

I must admit it was tricky torque was 90nm plus 90 degrees I still had sump off at this time and used a pry bar to jam the gear at the front I know not ideal and was a bit anxious doing it from there but it worked in hind sight maybe an oil filter strap round the crank pulley might of worked better 90 nm was ok but getting the further 90 degrees was a struggle.
