Charge pressure actuator Code P334B00

Recommended Posts

Having an intermittent fault bringing up the EPC yellow warning light. The garage has looked at the car twice and have not been able to replicate the problem they think it may be a fault on the charge pressure actuator Error code P334B00. At the moment the car is running normally even when the warning light has come on previously. Taking the car back if the warning light comes on again and see if the same fault shows up Joe

The old 1.2 in the MK2 had a few issues with the turbo actuator (googling  that error code brings a few results of it) so it's possible it's a reccurence of that.

I did do a search on google after I posted my original query and found similar issues with the mk2. After talking to the mechanic I discovered the actuator is controlled by an electric motor, his view was that the old vacuum system was a lesser cause of problems. They have checked all the electrics they are ok so if the problem re-occurs they will fit a new actuator at just short of £200. Skoda have one in stock. I am using an independent garage suspect Skoda would want to fit a new turbo charger as well Joe

The actuator is an intrinsic part of the turbo, so i suspect they'd want to swap out the turbo aswell, just replacing the actuator might cause issues with how long the original turbo has been in there and how tolerances may have changed slightly due to wear but enough to potentially cause issues.

^^^ A Skoda Workshop Employee will tell you that.  OK if it is under warranty, take the new turbo.

If you are footing the bill then check and see an Actuator can be purchased.  That is because they are not an intrinsic part of all Turbos.

Funny how Independent VW Specialist can do jobs that Main Dealers employees say can not be done.

Largely because an independent isn’t bound by the parts supply and instruction that a dealer is. If Skoda don’t provide a repair kit (which they do for some turbos) then they can’t do it.

And that maybe as simple as the manufacturer of the turbo won’t supply Skoda the individual parts, only complete warrantied units.

Funnily as other Skoda main Dealers in Scotland told owners paying the bill they needed Turbos one close to me had no issue getting actuators and fitting those.

Main Dealership, part of the same group that had other dealerships saying, 'cant be done'.

The point i am making is, the parts were available, were not being replaced under warranty and one dealership has a member of staff that can book the car in and another member of staff can do the job.

Then if the part was not available to the Dealership and they could not fit a part they did not source, saying to a customer you need a complete unit because it can not just be an actuator is just lying.

Or maybe just they have no idea and tell the customer what they hear others being told.

If the truth is, 'it can be done just not by us'.

Then that was the 'Honesty' that VW were on about when they dropped 'Das Auto' and were to build customer trust.
