2012 Yeti. haldex and strut query

Featured Replies

Hello guys,

I have a 150bhp yeti 4x4 which has haldex 4. Skoda dealers in india say this is life time no maintenance. They dont even change oil. However, i see many reporting sludge albeit in haldex5. can someone tell me what maintenance has been carried out by the yeti owners who have haldex 4.  is it just the oil change or anything on the pump.

I am looking to replace OE struts with Bilsten B6. Apparently, this is part no for my vehicle. https://www.skoda-parts.com/spare-part/3c0413031bc-front-shock-absorber-skoda-20738.html . bilstein dealers in uk asking me strut diameter to be able to ship the correct part. Does anyone have this strut in their vehicle and know the part no ? If not i will have to remove the assembly and measure it physically.

Appreciate any help

Cheers

Mech

The strut size follow the front brake eg discs size 280mm = 50mm struts and 288mm or 312mm discs = 55mm struts

As well as changing the oil there is a filter in the Haldex 4 to change.

Ok. so i measure the brake disc and i would get the strut size 100% right ?

Yes as the brake set up is related to the hubs, by the way are you driving a 2.0 TDI 150? As I might able to tell you by the engine you have.

As stated in the opening post, it is indeed 2.0 TDI 150 bhp. product code for the front suspension is GA06. Bilstein dealers from uk say it is most likely 55 mm. however, they have seen that assumption to go wrong at times.

If it was a UK yeti 2.0tdi 150 it would be 55mm as it has larger brake disc set but worth double checking the discs size as not sure if Indian yetis have the same disc size fitted as I don't like to assume either.

I would be wary about the description of the OP's car. He states it is pre-facelift and I don't think they fitted the 150 engine to that model. I suspect it is either a 140 or 170.
Also the Indian market might have different fittings

Oops.. my bad. My yeti is 140. My mk1 octy RS is 150. How stupid of me. :)

best to measure the discs just to be safe, mostly likely to be 288mm so 55mm but as per Llanigraham post Indian skoda may have to have different parts.

Here is a guide how to measure your brake discs size and I sure you can do something similar with measuring the diameter of your shocks with a cardboard cut out.

Could you not just turn the steering on full lock, and reach in & measure the strut diameter ?

Or failing that, pop a front wheel off.

Changing the brade pads in a couple of days. I am doing that exercise and update here. Let's see if willydog claim about measuring brade rotots will determine strut size holds true or not.
