Am i cazy to buy 2010 Octavia 1.9tdi with 300,000 on the clock?

Featured Replies

Looking for a cheap run about for a year and I've got the chance of a 2010 Octavia 1.9tdi (facelift model) for under £1000 but it was an ex private hire and has done 300,000 miles. Supposedly been looked after with various new parts and 10 months mot.

Given other peoples experiences, are these capable of a bit more miles or should i just leave it?

Cheers

Capable of treble that, its the age that finally gets to them rather than the mileage.

Bought my MK1 with 188K miles on it at 3 years old, kept it for 14 years and took it up to 325K miles, never missed a beat or cost me a penny other than oil & filter changes and it would have hone on for years more.

Electrical problems causing all but the drivers door to be locked and finding a 2006 version of the same car as yours with low mileage for £750 finally made me scrap it, I now realise that had I invested in VCDS I would still be driving around in it for another 10 years.

The new car needs VCDS frequently but with its diagnostics I expect to get similar mileage out of it, the old car did not need it in 14 years.

Check it as you would for a vehicle with 1/3 of the mileage.
