My 2007 S-Max 2.5T

Featured Replies

So I've sold the ForFour Brabus and bought this.

- 2007 Ford S-Max 2.5T Titanium

- 120k

- No service history

- Battered and bruised

- Probably needs a new engine as rattling between 2k-3.5k revs

So...jobs list

-Resolve engine rattle, either fix or replace engine

-Fix passenger side dent

-Replace springs as one snapped

-Replace tyres as one is low (already replaced 2)

-Replace rear brake pads as getting low

Then once it's fixed.

-Wrap in asbo orange with black highlights

-Upgrade stereo system and fit entertainment system for rear passengers (kids!)

-Replace front seats with some more supportive bucket style ones

-Remap or invest in RS components to take the power up a notch from it's 217bhp.

Pics to follow once it's had a bloody good clean!

Those SMAX's handle pretty well for the size of vehicle.  I only had the 2l tdi but it was upgraded to Eibach springs and 18" Alloys.

That 2.5t engine will make it an awesome car

Yeah it came with the 18" wheels. I'm swaying towards the vogtland springs as they seem muchness for muchness and cheaper!

Looks like it needs an engine rebuild.

Going in in Monday for a strip down and repair in the engine.

Bit of an update, it's with a garage having a bottom end rebuild. Once that's complete I'll be moving onto lowering it to make it look better as well as replacing the snapped spring, killing 2 birds with one stone.

Plan is to attempt to do as much of the work on this myself so I can learn as well as keep costs down.

It's broken, so it's in for a rebuild. Was getting knocking between 2k-4k revs.

Ouch. I took 600quid for my insignia for something similar (2l diesel awful engine) met the mechanic i sold it to today - its still there, he sent the block to poland for refinishing and now rebuilt.. and he has another parked alongside it with the same problem... hes just waiting to either sell mine now its sorted or transplant my (newish) engine and gearbox and 18" alloys into the 2yr newer tourer and sell that one :D

20191029_102056.thumb.jpg.9addeb924b55d7625cc861fd9e697299.jpgEngine should be done in the next couple of weeks hopefully. The springs have arrived too so I'll fit them when I get it back.

Looking forward to having a proper project!

Car should *fingers crossed" be done by the end of next week.

Then onto fitting the lowering springs! Hopefully then I might have a job too so I can start saving for the next bits of the project!

Not going to happen now.

Conrod was behind repair so I've had to source another one. Fortunately a guy in one of the group's had a spare set taken from his so I've taken all 5 off his hands. Gotta wait for them to arrive and then maybe just maybe it might be done.

It's still broken!

Got it back but the following:-

-Oil leak

-Top mounts both incorrectly refitted so broken

-Power steering or some other belt is whining.

- engine management light, related to the lambda sensor.

-More to come I'm sure

It's going to a local garage to me and they are doing a top to tail check over. Hacked off.

New stereo is in. Decent bit of kit!

At least you'll have something decent to listen to whilst it's stuck on your drive Chris! ;)
