Winter wheels compatibility check

Featured Replies

I'm looking at getting a set of steel wheels with Nokian WR D3 tyres for our MY15 Fabia 1.2 TSI SEL .  I'm 99% sure there shouldn't be an issue as I believe the size I'm looking at is manufacturer approved, but just wanted to check.

Current setup:

Tyres: 215x45 R16. Wheels: 5x100 / 7Jx16 ET46

Proposed winter setup:

Tyres: 185x60 R15.  Wheels: 5x100 / 6Jx15 ET38

These are direct swap and no issues with fitment, right?

Thanks in advance

Spot on, that's the standard fitment with 15" wheels.

Looks good to me.

Have you got a spare wheel/tyre and what size is it.

Some come with a 185 60 15 on a steel.

Just make sure the new smaller diameter wheels will fit over the brakes.

Alloy ones are thicker than steels.

Thanks AG Falco

Can confirm.

Currently working in the wheels department at an official dealer.

Much appreciated, thanks Peter.

I've spotted slightly better prices on the WR D4 and Hankook i cept RS 2's, both of which get better reviews so I'll just have to do a bit more research on the tyres.

1)If you have a 15"  or a skinny spare there will be no problem with fitment. If you have a 90ps SEL you will have the same brakes as my SE which was fitted originally with 15" wheels. If it is a 110ps it's possible you have bigger brakes but  1) applies.

Yes, it's a 90PS so that's valuable info.  Thanks again Peter, much appreciated.

I have been offered winter wheels and tyres to fit my Octavia 4x4 estate at a good price . They are 195/ 65/15 Goodyear tyres on steel wheels .My Estate originally came on 15” Alloys so would these be ok to use. Peter

My original wheels had 205/60/ r15 tyres on .

Sounds and looks fine if the tyres are the correct speed and load rating.
