Skoda Connect renewal

Featured Replies

I've just been notified that my contract is up and I'm trying to determine what exactly I'll lose by not renewing, but it's pretty confusing to work out which bits go with what.  My questions:

1. the buttons overhead for SOS, etc. apparently use the embedded e-sim?  Are they dependent on having a Connect contract, or will they always work?

2. The Infotainment Online (traffic data, etc.) work through my data SIM that I have inserted into the slot -- if I take the SIM out, it all stops working.  Will this continue to work, or do I need to pay for the Connect contract as well as paying for the data SIM?

Thanks,

Chris

There are 2 Connect packages available which are in addition to your SIM package. You can get a free data SIM package though.

Ok, thanks.  So I do need to renew.  What are the free data SIM packages?  The cheapest I've found so far is GiffGaff, which is not free but close to it.

According EU directives all new cars sold from ~2018 April, (about exact date I am not sure) must have this SOS functionality and it must work without any relation with other services and contracts. So, it will work (at least till Brexit, after it depends on UK law).

Three has a recurring 200Mb per month SIM - more than adequate for RTTI.
