Mk3 Replacing Front Parking Sensor Difficulty?

I have a 2014 vRS TDI and one of the front parking sensors is not working properly (always gives a red warning 1 bar from the car even when nothing is there).

Has anyone replaced the sensor themselves on the mk3 & is it possible without removing the front bumper?

I've found a few posts from the mk2 forum where it seems its a bit fiddly but possible without removing the bumper.

I'm guessing this doesnt directly apply to the mk3 as it seems like a bumper off job for many front end tasks.
