Winter wheel alternatives?

Featured Replies

Just wondering what other wheels would fit on my mk3 vrs for winter use. Currently shod with 19", but would prefer smaller for the winter wheels to keep costs down. Are there other makes that fit the skoda to widen the potential pool to shop from (ie VW, Audi etc)?

TIA

18" will fit,17" may fit ,others will know for sure.

If you stay with the original width that is 7.5,bolt pattern is 5x112,offset between about et50 and et40.

Any wheels that have those dimensions,it matters not where they come from, should fit.

If the width is varied from 7.5 then that will affect the offset and it gets more complicated.

Tyre size for 18" wheels would normally be 225/40.

You'll also require the centre bore to be the same, 57.1

Take a look here

https://www.wheelfitment.eu/car/Skoda/Octavia (2013 - ).html

It lists the wheels/cars that share the same pcd and centre bore.  Not sure how much you can vary the offset without issues.

Yes,forgot about the centre bore, but of course you can fit spigot rings to bring a bigger bore down to 57.1

That's a useful list but without the widths of the rims it's not possible to know what offset will work .

Dezent TD 18” work on the VRS. They are a popular winter wheel in Germany.

I have these to replace my 19”. They are very much cheaper than OE but still pass TUV test requirements. £400 before tyres all round, new wheel bolts and spigot rings.

I have a set of these and have used them every winter since 2016 on the original 225/40R18 Pirelli P Zero tyres I bought for less than £300 for a set of 4. Very easy to clean and look very smart in Gunmetal Grey on my Black Vrs.

These.... 😉

And some wheel nuts???

I purchased the 17” Dezent TD / ET 40, with 225/45/R17 tyres whilst living in Germany - this was in late 2013 when 18” low profile winter tyres were hard to obtain and cost £££! Spigot rings 66.6 mm to 57.1 mm, and M14 x 1,5 28mm 60 deg taper/cone bolts (including locking nuts)

These are a tight tight squeeze over the 340mm front brake set up - just have to be careful that the less competent tyre fitters don’t place low-profile balance weights on top of each other!

Now that 18” tyres are more widely available, if I was to purchase now, I would opt for the larger size.

Hi, These are still for sale
