2nd hand Yeti 103 TDI 4X4 - What to check before purchase?

Hello :)

I'm in Australia, Victoria and drive a lot at the moment. I've been umming and ahing between what car to buy and always keep coming back to the Yeti - Long story short, I have a holding deposit on a 2014 (auto diesel) model in Melbourne and am wondering (if I get a mechanic to give it a check over before I put my money down), what needs checking before purchase?

I've lost all my old posts and a helpful Briskodian mentioned something about a filter or having an instrument to measure somthing?! HAhah I'm pretty clueless when it comes to cars. Any suggestions welcome.

Probably won't be a problem with you guys in Australia but watch out for rust (I'm in cold and wet Scotland with salty winter roads) . Make sure that the checks for the 10 year anti perforation warranty have been getting done for what it's worth. I had visible rust bubbles along the lower portions of the doors on my yeti at less than 3 years old. Also early versions were prone to rot in the roof along the top of the windscreen (that wont likely be an issue on your 2014 model though as skoda had taken action to remedy this). There were numerous engine/DSG issues across the the whole VAG range so depending which engine and transmission your going for do a little research to find out if any upgrades/recalls were supposed to be done on the model your looking at. They are general good cars and most people enjoy owning them, I had a turbo failure on my tdi version however the back up from skoda assist was excellent so I didn't let it put me off.
