Superb II Random Cut outs

Featured Replies

Hi everyone.

I've not long owned a 2008 Skoda Superb 2.0 TDI 170 CR, it has 165000 miles on it, it has started to randomly cut out, say for example, slowing down to pull into a garage forecourt, putting clutch in and dropping to 2nd gear, it cuts out and only the battery light is lit up on dash, it always seems to fire up again with the key straight away though.

It has recently had a timing belt and water pump + service, done by an independent VAG garage.

Also when driving it will randomly loose power for a couple of seconds, and then be fine afterwards, these issues don't happen all that often to be fair, maybe once a fortnight roughly, has anyone here experienced this before on their car? If so I'd love to know what was up, and if I should be very worried.

Many thanks Briskodaians!

I'd start with a diagnostic scan and see if there are any fault codes listed that might shed light on what's happening.

Ok thank's chimaera, back to the mechanic I go then ! I have read just a while ago from google that it could be a dodgy crank sensor, so hope this is maybe all it would be !
