Kodiaq Lights

Featured Replies

I have a 68 reg Kodiaq SE 4x4 diesel.

I always have the lights set to auto on the switch to the right. Its caused issues over the past few months as Ive wrongly assumed my wife has been turning the lights off.

The other day I used it and they were on "Auto". I then go back in several hours later after work looked at the switch and they were on side lights!!!!! no one had been in it. Is there any reason for this.

Some people have been hitting the switch with their knee, but if you left the car on auto and came back to it on side lights, I think there's a ghost in your car. Kindly ask for them to vacate the car and you shouldn't have that issue.

Its your knee!

I did that quite a few times when I first got my Kodiaq.  The give away is the chime you hear if you have the door open and the lights are on.

Thanks for the replies.

if it was my knee I’m sure I’d of felt it, and I’m quite sureness it’s not a ghost as I’ve already had an exorcism.

From what I can understand here is a software problem with the lights on the Kodiaq.

Test this if you have the LED headlights:

Turn the engine on and then off or go for a spin and then turn it off.

Turn the parking lights on.

Get in front of the car and watch the DRL-LED-strip in the headlights.

Within a minute or so it will go dark!

The "design strips" inside the headligt will continue to light though...

Not enough light if parking on a dark roadside.

If you leave the car for an hour or so and then turn the parkinglights on, they will continue to shine, but the licenseplate light will be off!

Checked this at the dealer and two more Kodiaqs did the same.

Skoda SE is investigating.

@soc3032 hopefully the exorcise will do you good (sorry).

+1 on the knee hitting the switch, I’ve done it many times now and seems a common issue.

Great information, but this isn't the issue that the OP has. The switch is being physically moved from 'Auto' to 'sidelights'.

To the OP, it is definately yours or your wifes knee that is knocking the switch. A common cause for posting here, with others claiming it can't be or they'd have felt it. In the end they conceeded, took more care exiting the vehicle and the problem disappeared.
